Cliffs by the sea is a work by Paul Klee dated 1931. As the title suggests, it takes the meeting of land and water as its subject, with cliffs standing at the edge of the sea. Klee was born in Switzerland and worked in Germany, and his individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism. Those influences are part of the wider story of his art, and they make him a natural choice for anyone who enjoys modern, abstract interpretations of the natural world. The work is held in the Lenbachhaus.
On your wall: A coastal subject treated in a modern, abstract way suits living rooms, studies and hallways where you want a thoughtful picture with a touch of the sea.

Text based on Lenbachhaus.
Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
