Paul Klee made Fruits on Red in 1930, working in watercolour on silk. The title tells us what to look for: fruit, set against a ground of red. Silk is an unusual choice of material for a watercolour, and it gives the work a character quite different from paper. Klee was born in Switzerland and worked in Germany, and his individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism. Today this piece belongs to the collection of the Lenbachhaus.
On your wall: The strong red ground and fruit subject suit a living room, dining area or kitchen, particularly where a warm, modern accent is wanted.

Text based on Lenbachhaus.
Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
