Raoul Dufy painted La Tuilerie Saint-Henri in 1908, in oil on canvas. It is a modest work, measuring 32 by 40 centimetres. The title points to a tile works, so the picture is best approached as a view of a working site rather than a staged scene. Dufy was a French painter associated with the Fauvists, known for a vibrant, decorative style. The painting belongs to the Musée national d'art moderne and has been on deposit at the Musée Cantini since 1966.
On your wall: Its painterly handling and tile-works subject suit a study, hallway or living room where a modern, understated landscape can sit beside simple furnishings.
