This colour lithograph from 1904 is Ernst Haeckel's plate of Peromedusae, a group of jellyfish. It shows the crown jellyfish Periphylla from several angles, so you can study its form side by side. It belongs to Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur, where it appears as plate 38. The printed sheet measures 36 x 26 cm. Haeckel was a German zoologist and marine biologist who also worked as an artist, and the plate reflects both sides of his work: scientific observation and a keen sense of design.
