About this artwork

Max Pechstein painted this view of Monterosso al Mare in 1913. It is an oil painting on canvas, measuring 71 by 80 centimetres, and it belongs to his landscape work from that year. Pechstein (1881-1955) was a German Expressionist and a member of the Die Brücke group, and his approach to place was shaped by that movement. The title points to Monterosso al Mare, a coastal setting, so you can expect a landscape rather than a portrait or still life.

On your wall: A landscape with a coastal subject suits living rooms, studies and hallways, especially where a modern, expressive piece would add character to the space.
