This 1889 painting shows a bedroom in Arles. A bed, a window, a mirror and a picture on the wall are all part of the scene, which gives it the feel of a space someone actually lived in. Van Gogh painted it in oil on canvas, using the bold colour and expressive brushwork for which he is known. Today the work belongs to the Musée d'Orsay, where it is part of the collection.
On your wall: A calm, personal interior like this suits bedrooms, studies and reading corners, or any hallway or living space where you would like a quiet, domestic scene.

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter, regarded as one of the most influential figures in Western art. In little over a decade he produced around 2,100 works, including about 860 oil paintings, most of them in his final two years. He is known for landscapes, still lifes and portraits, painted in bold colour with expressive, energetic brushwork.
