Two women walk side by side beside a wrought-iron fence in a park. They wear white coats and tall blue hats with pink brims, which stand out against the setting. Behind them, other strollers move through the park, giving the scene a calm, everyday feel. The work is painted in oil on canvas by Kazimir Malevich, an artist best known as a pioneer of abstract painting. Today it belongs to the Tretyakov Gallery.
On your wall: Its white, blue and pink tones suit bright living rooms, hallways and bedrooms, especially where a calm figurative picture is wanted.

Kazimir Malevich was a Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist. Through both his paintings and his writings, he helped shape the course of abstract painting in the twentieth century. He is best remembered as the founder of Suprematism, a radically non-objective approach to painting that he introduced in 1915.
