Painted in 1912, this work by Kazimir Malevich takes a peasant woman with pails as its subject. Its full title, Woman with Pails: Dynamic Arrangement, points to a composition built on movement rather than a still, naturalistic likeness. It is oil on canvas and belongs to the Cubo-Futurist strand of his output, a period before he turned to fully abstract painting. The work is held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. It shows an everyday figure through the language of modern, angular form.
On your wall: Its dynamic, geometric character suits studies, living rooms and modern interiors where a restrained space benefits from one piece with movement and structure.

Kazimir Malevich was a Russian avant-garde artist and art theorist. Through both his paintings and his writings, he helped shape the course of abstract painting in the twentieth century. He is best remembered as the founder of Suprematism, a radically non-objective approach to painting that he introduced in 1915.
