This 1896 poster by Alphonse Mucha advertises JOB cigarette papers. A woman with long, swirling hair holds a cigarette, its smoke rising, and she is set against a purple mosaic border with large JOB lettering. It was published in Paris by F. Champenois. Mucha was living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, and the flowing line and decorative framing here are typical of the stylised posters that made his name.
On your wall: The rich purples and decorative lettering suit a study, a living room or a café-style kitchen, especially where vintage posters or warm, characterful interiors are the theme.
