This is a poster made in 1877 by Jules Chéret to advertise the skating-concerts at 15 rue Blanche, on the corner with rue de Clichy in Paris. The title also promises a concert-promenade, so the poster speaks of an evening's entertainment that combined music with a stroll and skating. It is a colour lithograph, printed in Chéret's own workshop in Paris, and measures 78 by 62 centimetres. Chéret is remembered as a master of Belle Époque poster art, and this sheet belongs to the world of café-concerts and popular spectacle that he helped to promote.
On your wall: Its period lettering and entertainment theme suit a living room, hallway, study or café-style kitchen where a touch of vintage Parisian character is wanted.

Jules Chéret was a French painter and lithographer who became a leading figure in Belle Époque poster art. His work in this field was so influential that he has often been called the father of the modern poster. His name remains closely tied to the colourful, eye-catching street posters of that era.
