This is an Art Nouveau poster by Alphonse Mucha, the Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist. A woman with long, windswept hair leans on the handlebars of a bicycle, and red lettering at the top announces Cycles Perfecta. The flowing hair and the focus on a single graceful figure are typical of the decorative style Mucha developed while living in Paris. He became widely known for stylised posters and advertisements, among them his theatrical posters for Sarah Bernhardt, and his work remains closely tied to the look of the period.
On your wall: The red lettering and flowing figure suit a hallway, study or living room, and sit well in spaces with a vintage or period-inspired feel.
