Bluebell, also known as Columbine, is a textile design made by William Morris in 1876. It takes its name from garden and woodland flowers, and it sits comfortably within the floral designs Morris is known for. The work is recorded as a printed textile, so the pattern was made to be seen on fabric, where the botanical forms can repeat across the surface. Morris was an English designer, poet and writer, closely associated with the British Arts and Crafts movement and with reviving traditional British textile arts and methods of production. This design offers a close look at that interest in plants and pattern.
On your wall: Its botanical subject suits living rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and it works well in calm, traditional or country-style interiors where a little pattern is welcome.
