La charge is a woodcut made by Félix Vallotton in 1893. Vallotton was a Swiss and French painter and printmaker, linked with the group of artists known as Les Nabis. He is regarded as an important figure in the development of the modern woodcut, and this print belongs to that part of his work. Elsewhere in his art he was known for an unemotional, realistic style, applied to subjects ranging from portraits and landscapes to still lifes.
On your wall: Its woodcut character suits a study, hallway or living room where a restrained, graphic piece is wanted, particularly in calm, uncluttered spaces.
