About this artwork

Roger Broders made this lithographic poster in 1925 to promote Combloux, naming its altitude of 1000 metres in the title. It was an advertisement for the Paris to Lyon and Mediterranean railway, and it was printed in colour in Paris by Lucien Serre & Cie. The original is large, measuring about 108 by 77 centimetres. Mont Blanc is part of the scene, tying the village to the Alpine landscape around it. Broders is best known for travel posters of French destinations, from the Côte d'Azur to the Alps, and this one belongs to that tradition of inviting people to travel by rail.

On your wall: It suits hallways, studies and living rooms, and works well with other travel posters or in any space that welcomes an Alpine, mountain-inspired touch.
