This poster was made in 1929 by the French illustrator Roger Broders for the P.L.M. railway. Its title presents Marseille as the starting point for the Côte d'Azur, so it works as an invitation to travel by train to the south of France. It was printed as a colour lithograph and published in Paris by L. Serre et Cie. The original measures 101 by 67 centimetres. Broders is best known for his travel posters promoting French destinations, from fashionable Riviera beaches to Alpine ski resorts, and this one belongs to that tradition of tourism advertising.
