About this artwork

Louis Rhead made this poster in 1894 to mark Thanksgiving for Harper's Bazar. It belongs to the Art Nouveau tradition, and you can see it in the flowing plant forms, the stylised lettering and the figure of a woman at its heart. Maize appears among the motifs, a fitting nod to the harvest season. Rhead was an English-born artist who settled in the United States, and he produced a number of posters for the magazine. A print of this one is held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

On your wall: Its harvest theme and period lettering suit a kitchen, dining room or hallway, and sit comfortably in a study or any room with a vintage feel.
