Ludwig Hohlwein designed this poster in 1912 to advertise the Zoologischer Garten München, which had opened only the year before, in 1911. The zoo was later renamed Tierpark Hellabrunn. The poster was printed in Germany by G. Schuh & Cie. and is a large format, 125 cm tall and 91 cm wide. A leopard features in the advertisement. Hohlwein was a German poster artist and a pioneer of the Sachplakat style. He trained and worked as an architect in Munich before turning to poster design.
On your wall: Its bold animal subject and vintage advertising character suit a study, hallway or living room, particularly where early twentieth-century graphic design is already appreciated.

Ludwig Hohlwein was a German poster artist who helped pioneer the Sachplakat style. He began his career as an architect, training and practising in Munich, before turning his attention to poster design.
