This is a small-format poster from 1926, made as a lithograph by Ludwig Hohlwein to advertise Wiesbaden as a destination in spring. It belongs to the tourism posters of 1920s Germany, when towns promoted themselves to visitors through bold, eye-catching graphic design. Hohlwein was a German poster artist and a pioneer of the Sachplakat style. Before turning to posters, he trained and worked as an architect in Munich. This piece offers a neat example of his commercial work from the period.
On your wall: A fine fit for a study, hallway or living room where vintage travel posters and graphic design from the 1920s are already at home.
