Alfred Sisley's 1883 view of the banks of the Loing near Moret, painted in oil with the calm eye of a dedicated landscape painter.
No VAT charged. Free delivery in Switzerland from CHF 99. Delivery details
This 1883 oil painting on canvas shows the banks of the Loing near Moret, a subject well suited to Alfred Sisley, whose work is almost entirely devoted to landscape. Born in Paris to British parents, he was among the Impressionists most committed to painting outdoors, and he returned often to riverside scenes. The Loing and the town of Moret feature in some of his most important work. The painting belongs to the Collection Bemberg and is a quiet example of Impressionism's attention to water, light and open air.
On your wall: Its riverside landscape subject suits living rooms, studies and quiet bedrooms, especially where a calm, natural scene would soften the space.

Alfred Sisley was an Impressionist landscape painter, born in Paris to British parents. He was especially devoted to painting outdoors, and almost all his work is landscape. He is known for series made around Hampton Court on the Thames, the 1875 floods at Marly-le-Roi, and the Gothic church at Moret-sur-Loing, as well as Seine riverside scenes west of Paris.
