Sarah Bernhardt as Gismonda, drawn by Alphonse Mucha in 1894: a tall Art Nouveau poster with a palm frond and elegant lettering.
No VAT charged. Free delivery in Switzerland from CHF 99. Delivery details
This tall poster by Alphonse Mucha, made in 1894, shows Sarah Bernhardt in the role of Gismonda. She holds a palm frond, and the lettering names the play, the actress and the Théâtre de la Renaissance. It is a fine example of the Art Nouveau style, in which Mucha, then living in Paris, became known for decorative theatrical posters, especially those featuring Bernhardt. A copy of the poster is held in the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague.
On your wall: Its tall format and period lettering suit a hallway, study or living room, especially where vintage posters or theatre-inspired decoration are already part of the scheme.
