Vincent van Gogh painted The Mulberry Tree in October 1889, in oil on canvas. The subject is a mulberry tree, the focus of the picture. He made it while living at the Saint Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, during the last year before his death in 1890. It belongs to the large body of work he produced there over those months. Since 1976 the painting has been part of the permanent collection of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California.
On your wall: A tree study like this suits living rooms, studies and quiet hallways, particularly where you want a natural subject to bring some life to the wall.

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter, regarded as one of the most influential figures in Western art. In little over a decade he produced around 2,100 works, including about 860 oil paintings, most of them in his final two years. He is known for landscapes, still lifes and portraits, painted in bold colour with expressive, energetic brushwork.
