About this artwork

This is a photograph by Karl Blossfeldt, titled Datura spec, a name that points to a plant of the datura genus. Blossfeldt was a German photographer and sculptor, best known for his close-up images of plants, gathered in the 1929 publication Urformen der Kunst. He was drawn to nature and to the ways plants grow, as his father had been before him. This photograph is held in the Pinakothek der Moderne.

On your wall: Its quiet botanical subject suits calm, uncluttered spaces such as a study, hallway, bedroom or a simply furnished living room.
