About this artwork

Edvard Munch paints a winter landscape at night, dominated by cool blues. Snow covers the fields, dark hills rise behind, and a row of trees stands in the middle distance. A red house sits within the scene, and its lit window gives a small, warm point of light amid the cold tones. The work is in oil paint on canvas and is signed 'E. Munch' in the lower right corner. It belongs to the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart.

On your wall: Its deep blues and single touch of red suit calm spaces such as a bedroom, study or living room, especially where cool, restful colours are wanted.
