Chestnut Trees is a landscape painted by Edvard Munch in 1906. As the title says, its subject is the chestnut tree, and Munch gives the trees his full attention. It is an oil painting on canvas, and it belongs to the collection of the Munch Museum, where it is also kept. Munch is best known for The Scream of 1893, yet here he turns to the quieter subject of trees. It is a good example of how he approached the natural world.
On your wall: A landscape of trees suits living rooms, studies and hallways, where it can bring a calm natural note to a modern or abstract-leaning interior.
