This is the typographic title page of El Lissitzky's 'About Two Squares', published by Skify in Berlin in 1922. The page is built from Cyrillic lettering in black and red, with a diagonal line running through the composition. Faint traces of the reverse page show through the paper, which gives the surface a slightly worn, handled quality. Lissitzky was a leading figure of the Russian avant-garde, and here the letters themselves do the work of the image.
On your wall: Its black, red and pale paper tones suit a study, a studio, a hallway or a minimalist living space where a graphic, typographic piece can stand out.
