This Art Nouveau poster advertises the 6th International Exhibition of the Automobile, Cycle and Sports, held from 10 to 25 December 1903 at the Grand Palais in Paris and organised by the Automobile Club de France. A woman in a flowered hat sits at the wheel of a car decorated with roses, while the Grand Palais rises behind her. The lettering announcing the exhibition is part of the design. Privat-Livemont, a Belgian Symbolist painter and Art Nouveau decorator, gives the scene a graceful, decorative character, with the flowers and the driver taking centre stage.
On your wall: It suits a study, hallway or living room where a touch of vintage motoring and Art Nouveau elegance would be welcome, especially alongside other period posters.
