About this artwork

Metropolitan Port was painted by Joseph Stella in 1936, in oil on canvas. Stella was an Italian-born American painter associated with Futurism and Precisionism, and he is best known for his views of industrial America, above all his images of the Brooklyn Bridge. The title points to a port in a large city, a subject that fits well with his interest in the modern, built-up world. The painting is now part of the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

On your wall: Its modern, abstract character and city-port subject suit a living room, study or office where a confident, contemporary piece is welcome.
