This is Plate 49 from The Birds of America by John James Audubon. It shows a small blue-green warbler perched on a branch of Spanish mulberry, also known as beautyberry, with clusters of pink and red berries beside it. Printed captions appear on the plate, as in the rest of the series. Audubon's book was engraved in Scotland and England as part of his plan to record the birds of North America in a large-format colour-plate work, with the text published separately in Ornithological Biography.
On your wall: The soft blue-greens and berry pinks suit a study, hallway or bedroom, and sit well alongside other botanical or natural history prints.
