Painted in 1883, this landscape by Claude Monet shows boats drawn up on the beach at Etretat. It is an oil painting on canvas and now belongs to the Collection Bemberg. Monet is regarded as the founder of Impressionism, and he was devoted to painting nature as he perceived it. The coastal subject suits that approach well, inviting you to take in the shore, the boats and the open setting at your own pace.
On your wall: Its seaside subject suits a calm living room, a hallway or a bedroom, and it sits comfortably alongside other landscapes or softer, natural interiors.

Text based on Collection Bemberg.
Claude Monet was a French painter and a founder of Impressionism. He devoted his long career to expressing nature as he perceived it, working especially in outdoor landscape painting. The movement takes its name from his painting Impression, Sunrise, shown in 1874 at the First Impressionist Exhibition, which he helped initiate as an alternative to the Salon.
