Vue de la fenêtre is a painting by Henri Matisse dated 1912, though it is also associated with 1913. As the title says, it is a view from a window, and it belongs to his paintings of Morocco, with Tangier as the setting. Windows were a subject he returned to, and here the frame draws the eye outward to the scene beyond. The work is now in the Pushkin Museum in Moscow. Matisse was a French artist best known for his use of colour and his fluid, original draughtsmanship, and he worked mainly as a painter.
On your wall: A window view with a modern, abstract feel, it would suit a living room, study or hallway where you want a sense of looking outwards.

Henri Matisse was a French artist, best known as a painter, though he also worked as a draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His art is admired for its bold use of colour and for a fluid, original approach to drawing. Both qualities give his work a distinctive character that remains easy to recognise.
