Emil Cardinaux, 1928
A 1928 Swiss travel poster of the electric Simplon Line, with Alpine scenery and a famous lakeside castle. Retro charm from the age of rail.
No VAT charged. Free delivery in Switzerland from CHF 99. Delivery details
Emil Cardinaux made this poster in 1928 to promote the electric Simplon Line, the railway route linking Lausanne with Domodossola. It belongs to the tradition of Swiss tourism advertising, where the landscape does the persuading. The scenery draws on the canton of Vaud: the Château de Chillon is among the sights associated with the poster, and the Dents du Midi, the Alpine peaks, also feature in the artwork. Together they suggest a journey through lake and mountain country.
On your wall: Suits a hallway, study or living room where a vintage travel poster adds character, especially in homes that favour Alpine themes, railway nostalgia or retro graphic design.
