Four women in long robes float against a deep blue night sky scattered with stars. Some are seen from the front and others from behind, and their hair appears as long braids or in flowing red. A border of small dots encloses the scene like a frame. The title, The Circling of the Planets, suggests a gentle, rotating movement, and the figures seem to hover rather than stand. Augusto Giacometti painted it in 1907. It is part of the Kunsthaus Zürich collection of his paintings. The Swiss artist was known for his work in the Art Nouveau and Symbolist movements.
On your wall: The deep blue and warm red accents would suit a bedroom, a quiet study or a calm living room where a dreamlike note is welcome.
