Le Rideau jaune is an oil painting on canvas made by Henri Matisse in 1915. The title points to its subject: an interior, with a yellow curtain at its heart. Matisse was a French painter known for his use of colour and his fluid, original draughtsmanship, and interiors were a subject he returned to often. The painting measures about 146 by 97 centimetres (57½ by 38⅛ inches) and is held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
On your wall: A warm yellow accent suits a living room, study or hallway, especially where you want a modern, interior-themed picture to bring colour to a calm space.

Henri Matisse was a French artist, best known as a painter, though he also worked as a draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His art is admired for its bold use of colour and for a fluid, original approach to drawing. Both qualities give his work a distinctive character that remains easy to recognise.
