Harvest in Provence is a landscape painting made by Vincent van Gogh in 1888. It is worked in oil paint on canvas, and today it belongs to the collection of the Israel Museum. The title points to a harvest in the south of France, a subject well suited to the painter's landscapes. Van Gogh is known for bold colours and expressive, energetic brushwork, and those qualities make his countryside scenes feel lively and immediate. It is a work to spend time with, looking at how the open landscape is built from paint.
On your wall: Its harvest landscape subject suits living rooms, dining areas and studies, where a calm view of the countryside can bring a sense of open space.
