This poster was made in 1875 by Jules Chéret to advertise Au Grand Turenne, a shop selling men's clothing and novelties. It is a colour lithograph, and the original is a large sheet measuring 116 by 84 centimetres. Chéret, a French painter and lithographer, became known for his work in Belle Époque poster art. The poster belongs to the early history of advertising for department stores and fashion in France, and it shows how shops once presented themselves to passers-by on the street.
On your wall: It suits a dressing room, a study or a hallway, and would sit well in any space styled with retro or vintage touches.
