Angular Line was painted by Wassily Kandinsky in 1930 and belongs to his body of abstract work. Kandinsky is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of abstraction in Western art. He was born in Moscow and began studying painting at the age of 30, later working in Germany. The title points to the importance of line in this piece, and rather than depicting a recognisable scene, it asks you to look at form and composition for their own sake. The original is on show at the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna in Rome.
On your wall: Its abstract character suits modern living rooms, studies and creative workspaces, where a work built on line and form can sit comfortably alongside clean, contemporary furnishings.
