Outlet at Lake Tahoe is a landscape painting by Albert Bierstadt, made in oils on canvas and dated 1850. The title points to the place where water leaves the lake, so the scene is rooted in the natural setting of Lake Tahoe. Bierstadt is best known for large landscapes that celebrated the American West, and this work belongs to that wider interest in the land. Today it is held at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, where it can be seen alongside other works connected with the region.
On your wall: A calm landscape suited to living rooms, studies and hallways, where a view of lake scenery can bring a sense of space and quiet.

Albert Bierstadt was a German-American artist, remembered above all for his monumental landscapes of the American West. His paintings present the region on a grand scale and celebrate its scenery, drawing the eye to wide horizons and the sheer size of the land.
