About this artwork

Painted in 1904, Cloud Towers is a landscape in oil on canvas by Akseli Gallen-Kallela. Its subject is the sky: great banks of cloud rising over a stretch of water, which takes up the lower part of the view. Gallen-Kallela is best known as a Finnish painter who played a leading role in the national art of his time, and here he turns to a quieter theme drawn from nature. The work is now part of the Didrichsen Art Museum collection.

On your wall: Its open sky and water suit calm living rooms, studies, bedrooms and hallways, where the cloud-filled view can give a room a sense of space.
