Painted by Umberto Boccioni in 1908, this is an oil sketch of open countryside. A young tree stands in the foreground, close to a fence and a stretch of green grass. Beyond them, fields spread out towards an ochre farmhouse set behind. The handling of the sketch is loose and direct, and the scene is built from simple areas of green and warm ochre. Boccioni is best known as a leading figure of Futurism, but this early work is a calm, observed view of the land.
On your wall: The soft greens and warm ochre would suit a living room, hallway or bedroom, and sit comfortably in a study or a calm reading corner.

Umberto Boccioni was an Italian painter and sculptor, and one of the principal figures of Futurism, helping to shape the movement's radical outlook. His work is known for its sense of dynamism in form and its breaking apart of solid mass. Though his life was short, his ideas guided other artists long afterwards.
